Antelope Valley College Student Health Services is preparing activities during the week – starting on Mon. 11/18 we will host an awareness event from 11 AM – 1 PM in the Student Center. We have invited a non-profit organization called Street Company to share their mission and story helping change the lives of homeless men and women by teaching them a skill (making coffee) and providing the forum to help them obtain employment. Street Company will be serving coffee samples at our event as well. We have prepared 75 winter-survival backpacks that include gloves, blanket and a beanie to distribute at our event. We have several community partners attending to provide community resources and supports. Our partners include: The Salvation Army, Valley Oasis Homeless Liaison, and Department of Public Health. We will also provide lunch to our attendees.
