We plan to have an educational panel with leaders in the community doing work to address poverty, houselessness and hunger, we plan to have a guest speaker (author) to campus that has researched poverty in America, we plan to have direct service with Newark Homeless Outreach twice, and a passive service project making gift bags to meet local communities needs.

We are planning to have an event each day during the week on November 11th-18th, but we are still planning the specifics of each event and the details of each day.

I am planning a homelessness resource fair at a soup kitchen in Hanford, CA during this week to bring awareness to our community and various resources to our homeless population who visit the Soup Kitchen daily. These resources include employment opportunities, education opportunities, substance abuse education and mental health prevention education as well as mobile clinics and more. The Soup Kitchen is an organization that provides free meals 7 days a week an all are welcome.

New Hope Presbyterian Church plans to host a “Fill Two Trucks” event on Saturday, November 18, 2023. We are partnering with Montgomery County Coalition for the Homeless and Olney Help. We will invite to community to help fill one truck with food for Olney Help, and one truck with men’s winter coats, blankets for MCCH. We plan to have live music at the event, provide education re: hunger and homelessness, and we hope to have a few speakers.
