We have arranged for the political bodies of the county, city of Eureka and City of Arcata to present a proclamation declaring the week of the 17th to there 23rd Hunger and homeless Awareness Week. During the Week of observance we will be attending the meetings of these public bodies and delivering information on our local population and the impacts on the our hungry and unhoused from state and federal decisions or laws that have further driven our neighbors into poverty and that the solutions resolution for many of these issues is local, especially hunger and homelessness. We have a large unhoused student population and information will highlight this situation as well. We will hold a rally at the courthouses with our allies and have some signage that will also help inform the passersby. We have four Interns from the local university that are helping us plan these events and will also speak at the public gatherings.

Our non-profit (The Zadie Project) donates nearly 1,000 quarts of soup per week to many in our community facing food insecurity issues. We donate to Title 1 schools, multiple shelters, and a senior citizen group all in metro Atlanta.
For this week, we are setting up information tables at our five Souper Jenny restaurant locations during our busy lunch rush. Some of the groups we donate to will be there to share information about their missions and share challenges they face.
Our restaurants host anywhere from 200-350 people per day and our goal is to bring attention to food insecurity issues in our community and share relevant info about what we can all do to combat the hunger challenges.
