This year, UTA Volunteers is hosting Hunger & Homelessness Week at the University of Texas at Arlington. The week constitutes of many different events, including tabling sessions covering information from food insecurity on college campuses, the connection between homelessness and disabilities, common illnesses seen in homeless populations, and how to raise awareness about the food deserts. The week also includes a lunch and learn, where participants will enjoy a meal while learning more about the topic of homelessness. The UTA Tri-C food pantry will be partnering with UTA Volunteers to host a food pantry distribution to help college students facing food insecurity on the campus, as well as a scavenger hunt to bring awareness to the availability of resources the university provides for students in need. The week will also feature our signature awareness event, One Night Without a Home, to advocate for and educate students about different aspects of homelessness, where they will listen to speakers and participate in educational activities. This will be followed by a homelessness simulation where participants will be able to experience what it might be like to be experiencing homelessness.
