On November 18, 2025, we will host our 3rd annual free clothing giveaway for students entitled "Ms Arnita's Boutique". Employees and community members donate clothing, household goods, toiletries, etc. for the event. A space is decorated to reflect a a festive atmosphere where students can shop for items for free. It is always well received, especially as students prepare to find warm clothing for the upcoming winter months. The event is held from 11:00-2:00 on the Largo campus.

As we look ahead to the changing seasons, we are currently organizing a special event this November dedicated to supporting our unhoused but not unloved community as they prepare for the winter months. This initiative will offer hot meals, hygiene kits, warm clothing, coats, undergarments, and access to both mental and physical health resources, housing support, and other essentials. Our goal is to create a space of comfort, care, and tangible assistance for those facing the harsh realities of life without shelter.

In collaboration with Rising Scholars, the Thrive Center is proud to host a dynamic panel discussion aimed at raising awareness about hunger and homelessness, two urgent and interconnected issues affecting students and the broader community.
This panel will feature leaders from key community-based organizations at the forefront of housing navigation in Orange County, including Project Kinship, Action Alliance, and City Net. Each organization brings a holistic, trauma-informed approach to addressing both immediate needs and long-term solutions for those experiencing homelessness and food insecurity.
In addition to insights from seasoned experts, this event will center the lived experiences of students who have overcome housing instability while pursuing their education. We are honored to welcome two student panelists, one affiliated with Rising Scholars and the other with the Thrive Center, who will share their powerful journeys of resilience, survival, and success in higher education.
This event is not only a conversation, it's a call to action. Join us as we explore how our campus and community can better support students facing these challenges, and how we can all contribute to lasting change.
