We will have an interactive site where students can learn more about hunger and food insecurity in our local Connecticut communities. The goal of the week is to start out by engaging with students and informing them on this issue, them by the end of the week we hope to run a food drive or another event to fundraise food for local shelters and drives. This event will be the culmination of an internship with ConnPIRG which several UConn students are undertaking this semester.

I have assigned my Graphic Design class a Homeless Awareness poster project. The students are required to research various causes of homelessness and depict it a way that creates awareness to the audience viewing the poster. The posters will consist of a single impactful image, a headline, and secondary text including statistics supporting the concept. The posters will then be distributed throughout campus and the outlying community. An announcement will also be through campus communications and newsletter to encourage student participation during the week of November 13 thru 21. Our community has a local homeless shelter, and will be encouraged to reach out to the shelter to volunteer.
