Our community Freedom Meal coincides with National Hunger and Homelessness Awareness Week, making the gathering more significant than just a meal. It’s a statement. Hunger is a policy failure, not a personal flaw, and addressing it takes all of us pushing in the same direction. By coming together during our Branch Meeting, we highlight the daily realities too many families face and strengthen our collective fight for dignity, stability, and economic justice in Miami-Dade.

We partnered with our Media Arts students to create a poster series of awareness around the issues of Hunger and Homelessness in our local region. We will wrap up our annual Food Drive and we continue with our Coat Drive. All items will be available for distribution though our on-campus Food and Hygiene Pantry. On Tuesday we will be hosting Chili and Nachos as a "pay what you can" event. Proceeds are donated to the Food and Hygiene Pantry for future needs, but the most important thing is that everyone has the opportunity for a hot meal on what looks to be a seasonally cold day.

This was a 2-day resource fair November 14th and 15th outside at a busy intersection in the Govans community in NE Baltimore. Featured non-profits and city agencies targeted on people experiencing poverty and homelessness. Included meal service 3 times a day.
A neighborhood coalition planned the event including Loyola University Maryland, the Mayor’s Office of Homeless Services, our local Business Improvement District, two churches, Healthcare for the Homeless, and the Govans Ecumenical Development.
