The Haven is a homeless shelter/community kitchen in Mattoon. This year. because of COVID, we will have no in-person activities. Instead, we are planning for the following: 1. Newspaper article(s) highlighting the various food-distribution agencies in our area with a special focus on how the pandemic has altered things for them. 2. Five different Facebook Live interviews about The Havento run Sunday through Thursday. These will include interviews with Board members, staff, volunteers, past and present guests. 3. We will have a virtual showing of the film about homelessness, "Us and Them" .

Due to the current circumstances of the pandemic, we have limited the number of activities we will do in the community. These activities will involve the students of Juanita High School.
1) Homeroom Informational Video with Activity
What: This team will make an informational video to show during homeroom. The students will be asked to complete an drawing based on the video. This will be compiled into slideshow to show Juanita’s support for the local homeless population.
When: Thursday, November 19
2) Juanita Families Donate Food to the New Bethlehem Day Center
What: Students will volunteer to make and donate a meal. We will reimburse their families for the materials spent.
When: Wednesday, November 18

3) Care Package Event at a Grasslawn Park (in-person event)
What: We will provide materials to make care packages for the Sophia Way, an all-women homeless shelter in Bellevue. Our board will drop these packages off the following week.
When: Sunday, November 22 @2PM for half an hour
