Keuka Housing Council is hosting an open house for community partners to come together to discuss and learn about housing and food insecurity in our community (Yates County, NY) Students from the Penn Yan Academy will be making bowls for an "empty bowls" project to be sold during the open house. Students will also create and donate 2 dimensional art pieces that will be available for purchase to the open house guests. We will have light snacks and short presentations that highlight the "statistics" that tell the story of food and housing insecurity in our community and otherwise network with one another as the key service providers and policy makers in the community.

Our youth will be participating in a Homeless Awareness Sleep-out the weekend of November 12-20 where the youth will sleep in cardboard boxes in front of the church. During this time they will work at our church's Free Farmers Market handing out food to those in need, working at a Women's and Children's Homeless Shelter, making personal care kits for the homeless in downtown Cleveland who live under the bridges, making no-sew blankets for two homeless shelters and will panhandle on our downtown Square for money donations for the two shelters. We will also have speakers from the homeless shelters we are donating to and a speaker from a drug and alcohol recovery center. Three Holiday Concerts will also be held at the church this weekend where offerings will be collected for the shelters.
